The Bot-Kleinmond Estuarine System was ranked in the Top 10 Most Important Estuaries in South Africa due to its size, habitat importance, zonal type rarity and biodiversity. With all its natural attractions, excellent location, well developed surroundings and a surplus of outdoor activities, this is a Ramsar wetland well suited for tourism:


Sandwich Harbour is a natural tidal lagoon, squeezed between dunes from the Namib desert and the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, 55 kilometers south of Walvisbay in Namibia, inside the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The large, shallow lagoon is surrounded by sand dunes up to 100 meters high, and is only accessible by 4x4 vehicles when tides and general wave conditions allow:


Walvis Bay is Namibia's only sea harbour. With its lagoon, peninsula and saltworks that attract thousands of birds, especially flamingos, Walvis Bay was declared a wetland of international importance and became one of Namibia's first Ramsar wetlands. It is a modern, busy harbour town that offers tourists many attractions:


With dimensions of 100km in length and 50km wide, Etosha is the largest salt pan in Africa. It is situated inside Etosha National Park in the north of Namibia. Although rain is sporadic and little, the pan attracts an amazing diversity and numbers of wildlife and birds, making this one of the most popular tourist destinations in Namibia:


Bwabwata-Okavango is Namibia's 5th Ramsar wetland, located in the Caprivi region just north of the Okavango Delta:


The Okavango Delta is Botswana's only Ramsar wetland. Covering an area of more than 5.5 million hectares, it is one of the largest Ramsar wetlands in the world. It is a bird and game paradise with stunning natural splendour, making it one of the top tourist destinations in Africa:


Lets’eng-la-Letsie is Lesotho’s only Ramsar wetland. It can only be reached with offroad vehicles. This video gives you a glimpse of this natural paradise high-up in the mountains where you will find the source of one of the Orange River's major tribituaries:


Ntsikeni Nature Reserve is a high altitude Ramsar wetland in the southern KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The Reserve is characterized by beautiful scenery:


Umgeni Vlei is a small Ramsar wetland in KwaZulu-Natal with restricted access:


Natal Drakensberg Park is the biggest Ramsar wetland in South Africa and offers some of the country's most beautiful natural splendour:


False Bay Nature Reserve became South Africa's 22nd Ramsar wetland on World Wetlands Day 2 Feb 2015. Make sure you visit this reserve during your next trip to Cape Town. This video will give you a short overview of what you can expect:

Verlorenvlei on the West Coast of South Africa is far away from city life. Close to the small surfing town of Elandsbay, there are not many visitors for most of the time. This video was made during our visit to the first 5 wetlands. It focuses on the making of the drone footage and not so much on the wetlands:
